At Hopwood CP School, we use Power Maths to support mathematics teaching. It is a DfE recommended programme, designed to spark curiosity, excitement and nurture confidence in maths.
Our Maths Passports help children to learn, recall and remember important maths facts.
All Y2 to Y6 children have their own TTRockstars login, Children are encouraged to go on and practise their times table facts at home. Every week our TTR winner is presented with a certificate in our Achievement Assembly.

In Reception, maths is taught through using concrete resources. Concrete resources are physical objects that children can pick up and manipulate to improve their maths knowledge. These practical experiences underpin mathematical learning.
Our Facebook challenge was to find numbers in the environment. We found out that numbers are everywhere! Here are few examples of the photographs sent in to us.
Parents came to our maths lessons to learn about how we teach maths at Hopwood and see their children learning. The children were very excited having their parents in school. Parents learned about the methods we use in school and how we help children to understand maths and remember maths facts and skills.
