Learning and News

World Book Day

We have had such a great day! We have completed a book treasure hunt, had a dance, designed out own t-shirt and made a pop-up book.

Pitta Pockets

This week in DT, we all made pitta pockets as part of learning this half term.

Food Tasting

As part of out DT project this half term, we have been tasting different foods so that we can choose our perfect filling for our own pitta pockets.

Xylophones

On a Friday we have been learning to play the xylophones. So far, we have learnt We Will Rock You and Frere Jacques.

TT Rockstar Day

We had so much fun on our TT Rockstar Day.  Dressing up, times table battle against the other Year 2 class and lots more fun packed into am exciting day!

Gymnastics

We've been improving our balancing and travelling skills in gymnastics this half term.

Life Skills Day

We've had an exciting day learning some life skills. We've spent time fastening zips, sharpening pencils into the bin, peeling fruit, learning our date of birth and addresses.

Bush Tucker Trial

Year 2 have had an exciting time taking part in a Bush Tucker Trial, using adjectives to describe what was in the boxes. We discovered paint, porridge, pom poms, jelly, sawdust and baked beans!

Bear Hunt

Class 5 have had an exciting start to our new class book, 'The Bear Under The Stairs'. We followed some clues and went on a bear hunt, which led us to the library, the hall, the lockers, Mrs Makin's office and then eventually back to our own classroom.

Santa Visit

Today we had a visit from Santa. He read us a story and left us a special present to put under our Christmas tree.

Christmas Party

Year 2 had a wonderful time at their Christmas party. We danced, played musical bumps, musical corners and pass the parcel.

KS1 Performance

Thank you so much for coming to see out performance. We had a lovely time!

Reindeer Run

We all enjoyed running in our reindeer antlers today to raise money for charity.

Polar Express Day

Wow! What a day we have had in our pyjamas. We all got a golden ticket at the start of the day ready for the conductor to check them. We learnt a dance, decorated biscuits, made tree decoration, had a visitor off the conductor and even had time for a hot chocolate whilst watching part of a Christmas movie.

Christmas Performance

We have been rehearsing for our performance and are looking forward to seeing you next week.

Christmas Craft

This week our parents joined us for Christmas Craft. We had a great time making decorations for our trees.

Special Delivery

This week, Year 2 received a special delivery from the train conductor from the Polar Express. Inside every layer of wrapping paper was part of a poem with a rhyming couplet. Inside the last piece of wrapping paper was a letter inviting us to a pyjama party!

Spelling Bee

After a spelling battle, here is the  Year 2 winner!

Freddie Fit

We have had an exciting morning with Freddie Fit. We learnt some new teamwork skills and improved our hoola hoop technique.

Footprint Hunt

As an introduction to our new book, 'The Journey Home', we went on a footprint hunt around school then investigated which animal each footprint belonged to. 

Diwali Dance Workshop

We had the pleasure of a specialist dance teacher coming into school to teach us some dance moves. We had a great time!

DT - Cars

In DT, we have been designing and making vehicles, using hack saws, glue guns and our imagination!

VR Goggles

Class 5 enjoyed using the VR goggles in Geography today to gain an immersive experience through the four seasons.

STAR Club

In STAR club, we used lego to build our own creations.

Once a Man Fell in a Well

The children have been learning the melody and tune of the song 'Once a Man Fell in a Well'. We then had the opportunity to read some musical notes and match the pace of the song, making sure we played the correct notes.

DT - Cutting Skills

We have practised sawing dowel with a bench hook and saw.

Learning Together

We've had lots of visitors in our class this week! Thanks to all the mums, dads and grandparents who came into class and helped us learn.

Teddy Bear Jam Sandwiches

In English, we made our own teddy bear jam sandwiches to help us write our own set of instructions.

Compasses

In geography, we have made our own compasses. We thought carefully about where North, South, East and West were positioned.
