Learning and News
Class 4 had a good time visiting the church! We completed an easter treasure hunt, as well as activities about love, kindness and family.
In maths, Year 1 have been using scales to measure. We have been comparing the equipment in our classroom.
In DT, Year 1 have been learning how to sew and make hand puppets!
Class 4 have enjoyed life skills day. We practiced setting a table with our cutlery on the correct side. We also practiced using a knife and fork correctly, then washing the dishes.
Year 1 have been busy learning how to paper mache in art! They then painted their animal models.
Year 1 have been learning about different types of animals. This week, we looked at what animals we might find in a rock pool.
Class 4 have been looking at old coins from the 1950s, and comparing them to payment methods we use today.
Class 4 looked amazing for TT Rockstars day! We played lots of fun maths games and completed challenges.
Year 1 enjoyed the 1950s workshop where we made 1950s toys.
We have been learning about paper art. We made paper beads and threaded them onto string.
In History, we have been learning about childhood in the 1950s. We enjoyed looking at, and playing with, the toys from the 1950s loan box!
Class 4 enjoyed their very first 'Life skills' day! We worked on speedy dressing, finding things and sorting equipment.
In art, we made stained glass windows. This links with what we have been learning about in RE.
In art, we have been learning about collaging with different types of paper and materials.
In Science, we have been learning about materials. We tested which material would keep a bottle frozen. The bottle that wasn't covered melted the most, whereas the bottle in the insulated lunch bag stayed the coldest.
In History, we have been looking at childhood in the 1950s. We worked together to identify features of schools in the 1950s, in comparison to schools now.
In music, we have been learning about pitch and tempo. We listened to and compared different pieces of music, then experimented with the instruments.
Class 4 have been looking at different materials and their properties. We completed a range of activities where we sorted materials and packed bags for hot and cold holidays!
Class 4 did an amazing job in their Christmas performance!
Year 1 had an amazing time at their Christmas party!
In DT, we made pop up pictures using sliders and levers.
We performed our poem 'Remember, Remember' to Remember why we celebrate bonfire night.
We visited Heywood Fire Station as part of our history topic 'Bonfire night'! We went on a fire engine and found out lots of information about how to work in the fire service.
We had a teddy bear's picnic to end our writing unit 'The sea saw'!
In DT, we experimented making sliders and levers. Our final product will be a pop up card!
In PSHE, we have been looking at how our school environment is maintained, and how we can look after it. We walked around school, then recorded our observations.
In science, we tested which gloves would be best for a polar adventure!

Anti-bullying week
This week we learnt a Diwali dance!
In science, we are learning about polar regions. We looked at what a polar adventurer would need in comparison with what somebody would need on their holidays!
In history, we are learning about bonfire night and the gunpowder plot. We tasted toffee apples and parkin cake.
In RE, we have been working as a team to collage a Shabbat table!
In maths, we have been working on recognising and writing our numbers to 20!
In computing, we have been using clicker 7 to design characters!
