Welcome

Welcome to Hopwood Community Primary School.

Welcome to Hopwood Community Primary School website. This site was published in March 2016 and we hope it provides you with all you need to know about our school. If you are interested in learning more about everyday life at Hopwood then please follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Hopwood is a popular two form entry primary school which is at the heart of the local community. The school was opened in 1908 and has since been extended to meet the growing demand for places. Many families have seen a number of generations attend Hopwood and our excellent reputation within the locality means we are regularly over-subscribed.

This is a welcoming, friendly school with high expectations, where all children are valued, feel secure and develop into confident learners. The school logo reinforces our commitment to lifelong learning. Through  “Opening Minds to a World of Learning” we strive to ensure children are safe, show respect and try their best.  We have received several national accreditations and awards for our excellent curriculum provision.

For many years pupils’ academic results have been very high. However, we are committed to educating the whole child and as such provide a high quality curriculum based on a thematic approach. We use specialist teaching for art, music, drama and physical education and complement the taught curriculum with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities, off site learning and enrichment events.

Parents and staff work closely together in a supportive environment to enable pupils to fulfil their potential. I am tremendously proud to be the Headteacher of our wonderful school and extremely fortunate to work with great children, supportive parents and governors, and talented staff.
