Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, visitors and volunteers to share this commitment.
If you have any concerns regarding the safeguarding of any of our pupils please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads: Mrs Sarginson, Mrs Hill or Mrs Dixon
Please see the safeguarding section of our website under Policies > Safeguarding.
At Hopwood, the children have weekly lessons in our well-equipped Apple Mac computing suite with the specialist Computing Teaching Assistant, who supports class teachers to deliver exciting and practical lessons that equip the children with necessary skills. We acknowledge that computing cannot be taught in isolation and we endeavour to include computing in many aspects of the curriculum; from researching in history lesson to using the Beebots for direction in maths. We enrich the curriculum with visits to demonstrate how IT is used in the modern world, including robot themed workshops and trips to the Apple store.
Our school Digital Leaders provide meaningful support to teachers and peers throughout the school whilst developing their confidence and leadership skills. Digital Leaders support children to be safe online and organise events to raise the profile of internet safety across school. They train the younger children how to use apps and games and create exciting videos of activities around school.
