This week we had a visitor from Touchstones, Rochdale, we learnt all about toys from the past and even made our own!

In maths, the children enjoyed using concrete objects to make groups of 10

Year 1 enjoyed singing in this year's show 'The mouse in Santa's house.'

Dance and dinosaur PIPs

Gymnastics and football PIPs

Year 1 enjoyed volunteering and litter picking at Hopwood Park, whilst completing fieldwork.

Class 3 had a fantastic time visiting our local Fire Station.

Year 1 had lots of fun in Star Club this week making nature braclets.

In science, we made shadow puppets and learned that a shadow is made when a light source is blocked by something.

In RE, we explored Jewish artefacts and used our artistic skills to sketch and label them.

In computing, we learned how to use painting tools and the 'undo' button to create drawings of Cinderella.

In maths, we have been comparing numbers. The children had fun using counters to find greater than, less than or equal to amounts.

In art, the children have learnt the 3 primary and secondary colours. They have had lots of fun using their skills when mixing primary colours to make secondary colours.

In science, we will explore our 5 senses and identify which part of the body is used for each sense. Children will also explore different materials, observe a variety of light sources and identify and describe the basic structure of common plants.

In geography, we will be learning about 'where we live'. The children will discuss different places they go and visit around where they live. They will also look at what's near and what's far, using a range of maps and compasses they will be able to explore these different places. When looking at green spaces the children will have the opportunity to go litter picking in our local park.

We are very excited to welcome our new Year 1's back to school.
