Learning and News

Class 11 have been taking part in the Bikeability scheme, learning all about how safe cyclist!

We had visitors from Newhouse Academy to share some Spanish with us. Class 11 behaved beautifully and enjoyed it greatly!

Today in Spanish we visited some sunny destinations using our VR goggles including Barcelona, Madrid and Alicante!

In Class 11, we have an award winning poet! Darla represented Hopwood at a poetry event in Rochdale with her lovely poem.

Things that make me happy?

Things that make me happy throughout the week,

Hanging out with my friends they are so unique.

We go to gymnastics or play in the park, 

We don’t stop laughing from morning till dark.

 

Things that make me happy throughout the week,

Hearing my baby cousin learn to speak,

Spending time with her is so much fun, 

But I’m not volunteering to change her bum.

 

Things that make me happy throughout the week, 

Is coming to school, seeing Miss Harrison teach, 

She is always caring and so much fun,

But we all can’t wait for the weekend to come.

On our trip to Tatton Park, the children learnt how the Vikings defended themselves from the Saxons, how to make bread without machinery and even saw real life deer! It's safe to say, everybody had an amazing time.

We had a PSHE workshop thinking about our feelings and making healthy choices for the human body. A fantastic time was had by all!

We have been completing electrical circuits and seeing whether pieces of our classroom equipment are conductors or not.

In computing, Class 11 have been learning about different types of encryption. We made our own Caesar cipher wheels and challenged each other with secret messages.

Year 5 have explored the Jewish faith and what it means to Manchester at the Jewish museum this week. We looked at artefacts and sat in a Synagogue.

In our Spanish lessons, we have been learning how to use dictionaries. This week, we used them to find colours such as rosa and rojo!

Class 11 have been place value heroes! We became numbers and partitioned them effectively to practise knowing the value of different digits.
