Safeguarding Notice

Learning and News

This week Class 4 have been learning how to look after their teeth. They practised brushing them for 2 minutes. They also talked about which foods were healthy to eat.

This week we had a visit from Touchstones, Rochdale. We learnt all about toys from the past and even made our own!

Year 1 enjoyed singing in our Christmas show 'The mouse in Santa's house'.

This week in science, Class 4 have been trying to find out which is the best material for a Polar explorer. We tested different materials.

Year 1 had fun this week volunteering to do a litter pick. They did a fabulous job of tidying the park and completed some field work!

Year 1 enjoyed visiting Heywood Fire Station, we learned all about the special uniform that fire fighters have to wear.

We had a scarily fun time at the Halloween disco!

In science, we have been learning about light, we found out that a shadow is made when a light source is blocked by something. We made our own shadow puppets.

This week in maths, we have been learning about the whole and parts. We used cubes to find parts of a whole.

In science, we have been learning about different materials such as wood, plastic and metal. We made our own drums out of different materials.

This week in art we have been colour mixing. We added white and black to make our colours lighter or darker.

This week, we have been celebrating Arlo achieving his Octopus 2 swimming certificate, well done Arlo!

We have been learning how to find one less in maths this week.

In science, we are learning about our senses. We tried different foods; sweet, sour, bitter and salty!

This week we celebrated Tommy achieving his Stanley 1 award in swimming. Well done Tommy!

In maths this week we have been learning how to sort. We sorted into different colours and sizes.

In science, we will explore our 5 senses and identify which part of the body is used for each sense. Children will also explore different materials, observe a variety of light sources and identify and describe the basic structure of common plants.

 

In geography, we will be learning about 'where we live'. The children will discuss different places they go and visit around where they live. They will also look at what's near and what's far, using a range of maps and compasses they will be able to explore these different places. When looking at green spaces the children will have the opportunity to go litter picking in our local park.
