In music this week, children looked at artwork to inspire their musical composition. We used a number of instruments to compose our pieces and then performed them in front of the class.
This week in art we have been looking at the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. The children enjoyed looking at the painting The Last Supper, and then recreated the painting focusing on the different layers and perspective. Great job, Class 12!
This week in music, we have been learning about graphic scores. Children were tasked with creating a sound using their bodies or everyday objects which matched the symbols on the score. They performed these fantastically!
We started our Spring term with a trip to Tatton Park! Children enjoyed learning about the Vikings, from how they hunted, made flour for bread, created crafts for trading, and how to defend themselves in battle. What a great start to 2024!
In art this week, we learnt different watercolour techniques and then applied these to a cityscape design. The children painted the reflection of the city in the water!
We enjoyed having our grown ups in this week to make our Christmas craft! Children (and grown ups!) put in lots of effort to create their yarn wrapped Christmas trees - we hope they look fantastic on your Christmas tree.
This week we have been using the cuisenaire rods to help us with our understanding of equivalent fractions.
This week, in Art, we have been learning about cityscapes and practising drawing with perspective. The children have made a great start to their new topic!
This week we had fun in a DT workshop, using everything we have learned over the half term, to design and build electric cars. They came out looking brilliant!
Year 5 have explored the Jewish faith and what it means to Manchester at the Jewish museum this week. We looked at artefacts and sat in a Synagogue.
This week, we have taken advantage of the break in rain to conduct a scientific experiment! Children used a ball and some string to investigate whether length has an impact on how long it takes an object to orbit. We concluded that planets further from the sun, take longer to orbit, as they have more distance to travel!
This week in Class 12, we have been looking at our Solar System in Science. The children have been learning the order of the planets, and drawing their own models of the Solar System.
