Learning and News

This week we have been investigating the best material for a new pair of underpants for the aliens. We have been forming different letters in the gloop and being astronauts.

We love our story 'Aliens Love Underpants.' This week we have been learning about space and making our own rockets. Blast Off!

We love our new STAR book 'Room on the Broom' and have been making our own wands, role-playing and retelling the story and making our own potions. :)

We are very excited to start our new topic 'Ticket to ride' this half term. We are going to be learning about different types of transport and how it has changed from when our grandparents were little. We will be looking at the STAR books underneath.

At the end of our Amazing animals topic and after watching all 60 caterpillars grow into butterflies we let them go in our outdoor area. :) A lovely end to the Easter half term.

We are so proud of Class 2! We had a fantastic day at the farm, feeding animals, riding donkeys and meeting lots of baby animals.

Oh no! The owl babies have taken our paintbrushes to make their own nests. We had to think of another way to paint our pictures of an owl. We made our own paintbrushes with things we found around the classroom.

Our new topic is Amazing animals. We are going to be looking at the books Owl Babies, Farmer Duck and Handa's Surprise.

On Monday, we received 10 eggs and have watched them hatch over the week into 10 baby chicks. We loved watching them grow and had the chance to hold them.

We love the story 'The Giant Jam Sandwich' and we have been learning about how to help bees on our own gardens. We learnt about how bees collect pollen from plants and we had a go at collecting our own pollen.

We made our own dragon head to take part in a dragon dance. We loved working together and helping each other.

We have been learning about Chinese New Year. We have been dressing up in chinese clothes, making our own dot-to-dot tigers and using the tweezers to put pom poms in the chinese dishes.

We have been learning about the story of Jack and the beanstalk. We have been planting seeds, drawing our own beanstalks and climbing the rope to get to the giant's castle.

We have been enjoying using our new playground to learn different movements including climbing, pulling and pushing.

We have been learning about the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. We have made our own porridge, retold the story and thought about what we would like for breakfast.

We are so proud of our children for attending the Remembrance Day service and showing respect in the silence. Well done!

Our next topic is ‘Terrific Tales.’ We are going to be learning about the story of Rama and Sita and celebrating Diwali and other celebrations including bonfire night. We are going to be learning about Goldilocks and how to make porridge. We will finish our topic with the Christmas story and our performance. It sounds like a very exciting half term.

We have been making our own Supertato to defeat the evil peas, squirting the evil peas with water and making observations of fruit and vegetables.

We have been learning about Supertato and this week the evil pea captures the vegetables in our classroom. We have been trying our best to rescue them.

We have been on a walk around Hopwood Park to find Stickman. We spotted lots of trees including deciduous and evergreen and even spotted a few conkers.

We love being outside! We have been using lots of different equipment this week to see what we like to do. We have been using the balance bikes, the stilts and the hula hoops.

We are learning all about Elmer and this week we learnt about primary colours and how to mix them to get the colours we want including purple and orange.

We have had a great start to Reception and we have been so excited to explore our new classroom. We have made lots of new friends and met our new teachers.

Welcome to Reception. We are very excited for the term to start and cannot wait to meet all of you. Our first topic is 'Superhero Me.' We will be looking at how we are superheroes and who is a superhero at home. We will be looking at our STAR books - Elmer, Supertato, Stickman and Funnybones. We cannot wait to see what you have been up to over the summer.
