Learning and News

We have been looking at the life cycle of a butterfly. We made our own on a plate and our own butterflies.

We have been building our own gruffalo forest on our outdoor area. It includes a logpile house, a bridge and a river. We have been balancing on the beams carefully.

We decided to help Jack get down the beanstalk with a parachute. We looked at the parachute and played parachute games.

Watch out for our beanstalk with numbers up to 25 in Reception! We hope there isn't a giant at the top.

We have been looking at the numbers 6,7 and 8 and looking for different places we can write the numbers.

We have been looking at the story of the Jolly Postman. We decided he needed an upgrade on his bicycle and designed our own. Then we built them using the bricks outside.

We are very excited to be back at school. We have heard lots of stories about the Christmas holidays and are looking forward to starting our new topic on fairy tales.

We have been very busy this week getting ready for Christmas. We have been making our own reindeer food using oats, corn flakes and raisins.

A big thank you to all of our parents who could make the Christmas craft and made it so special for our children. Look at the fantastic Father Christmas models the children made.

We went on a Christmas walk to post our letters to Father Christmas. We found the post box and posted our letters through.

We had a visit from Writeman this week. We enjoyed taking part in his rap and learning about our challenge.

This week we have been on a bear hunt. We counted the bears in the cave and then showed the amount on a tens frame.

We have been celebrating Anti-Bullying Day and decided to be the I in kind.

We were really excited to change our library books this week. We can't wait to read them at home.

We have been learning our keywords this week.

We have been looking at our new book 'Paddington' this week and learning all about London. We made our own Union Jacks.

Our new topic is 'Let's Explore.' We will be looking at the following books to start our adventure.

We have been looking at prepositional language this week.

We have been looking at the number 5 this week. We have been to the cake shop and bought a currant bun for 5p. We have been using the conkers on the five frames. We have been making shapes with five sides.

This week in Maths we have been using sorting circles to sort animals by colour.

We listened to the story of Supertato and decided to make our own mashed potato. We had to think about the tools we would use and how to make the potato soft.

We have been counting out objects to 10 after rolling the dice to give us a number.

We have been learning our new RWI sounds this week - MASDT. We have been using magnetic letters to make words.

Welcome to Reception. We are very excited for the term to start and cannot wait to meet all of you. Our first topic is 'Superhero Me.' We will be looking at how we are superheroes and who is a superhero at home.
