Learning and News

We have had a very exciting day today and visited the Wonderdome. We learnt about the sun, the moon and the planets.

This week we have been re-telling stories using puppets. We have been trying to use different voices for the characters.

We are very excited to start our new topic 'Ticket to ride' this half term. We are going to be learning about different types of transport and how it has changed from when our grandparents were little. We will be looking at the STAR books underneath.

This week Class 1 have enjoyed using the musical instruments to play along to the music of the Princess and the pea.

This week we have been holding our baby chicks. We have really enjoyed watching them grow.

This week we have celebrated Chinese new year. The children have had fortune cookies, made Chinese dragon masks and made a lanterns.

This week we have been learning about Jack and the beanstalk and have planted our own seeds.

This week Class 1 have been enjoying using the outdoor provision. Our focus this week has been measuring and investigating water.

We have had a great last week in Reception. We have had a fantastic Christmas party and have had a delicious Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas Class 1.

This week class one have enjoyed performing their Christmas concert. Well done Class 1.

Today Class one had a visit of Nick Sharratt, They got to listen to his new story 'Shark In The Snow'.

This week we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have investigated whether the shapes roll or stack.

This week we have been learning about Diwali. The children have made a special meal in the home corner and built a bridge for Rama and Sita.

Our next topic is ‘Terrific Tales.’ We are going to be learning about the story of Rama and Sita and celebrating Diwali and other celebrations including bonfire night. We are going to be learning about Goldilocks and how to make porridge. We will finish our topic with the Christmas story and our performance. It sounds like a very exciting half term. 
 

Class 1 were very lucky to have the opportunity for a policeman to come and visit. They learnt lots of interesting facts and tried on the police equipment.

Class 1 have really enjoyed supertato this week. They have enjoyed opening a shop selling the vegetables and cleaning the potatoes. The evil pea froze some of the vegetables and the children enjoyed setting them free.

Class 1 have enjoyed spending time with their year 6 reading buddies.

This week we have been enjoying our book 'stickman'. We have been looking for stickman in the outdoor area. We have built a house for stickman and we have been looking at conkers.

Class 1 have had a fantastic start to Reception and have enjoyed exploring the outdoor area.

Welcome to Reception. We are very excited for the term to start and cannot wait to meet all of you. Our first topic is 'Superhero Me.' We will be looking at how we are superheroes and who is a superhero at home. We will be looking at our STAR books - Elmer, Supertato, Stickman and Funnybones. We cannot wait to see what you have been up to over the summer.
