This half term our theme is the world. We will be looking at continents, countries, capital cities, the hemispheres, longitude and latitude, human and physical features and comparing countries around the world. If you have any facts or questions post them on our padlet here.
This week we received a letter from Emperor Claudius who asked us to build a Roman Bath House in Heywood. We used our area and perimeter knowledge to find the best layout for our designs,
Today we have been looking at the story of the Good Samaritan as part of our PSHCE theme. We discussed what the phrase 'love your neighbour as yourself'. These are our responses.
Our RE topic this half term is Judaism. This week in RE we have been learning about God's promise to Abraham.
This half term we are going to be learning all about the Romans.
In literacy we are going to be looking at myths and legends and in science we are going to be discovering how the ear works.
Year 4 Coal Mining Trip
We had such a fantastic day learning about how coal is mined and what life was like for child miners. We visited Sally Fletcher and learned how her whole family earned a living mining coal. We also took an underground tour down a coal mine where we learned how coal mining had changed over the years. Take a look at our photos.

We had so much fun in Freddy Fit this week.
This week we have been investigating how different temperatures can effect how solids change into liquids.
This week we have been acting out different scenes from the Nativity story and thinking about how the characters felt.
This week we have been carrying out market research on a range of bread.
WB 21st November
This week we have been looking at explanation texts in literacy. We had to create posters and present to our class about different sources of energy. We also enjoyed our session with Freddy Fit and the Year 4 'Hoop Off'. We also had a visit from Stella Speller to talk to us about spelling and give us a spelling challenge.
WB 14th November
This week has been Anti Bullying Week. We have been thinking about kindness as it is the opposite of bullying. In ICT we created word art based on the qualities we thought someone who is kind has.
We also took part in the Year 4 Spelling Bee and cheered on our classmates through 6 rounds of words.
WB 7th November
This week we performed our class assembly on 'Kindness' to our families and friends.
WB 17th October
This week we had our first Learning Together session all about fractions.
We also had our very first Monster Mash Ball after school.

Friday 30th September
What a fun filled week we've had. In maths we learned all about the properties of 2d shapes. In English we wrote a persuasive letter about why playtimes are a positive thing. We also had fun in our music and drama lesson. Take a look at the pictures below.

W.C. 12.9.16 This week we have been writing our dreams in BFG style dream jars to celebrate 100 years of Roald Dahl. We have also been learning about the features of a report. In ICT we have started to create our own Digestion Quiz on Scratch.
