Learning and News

How does water go round and round?

This half term we will be learning about the rivers and the water cycle.  We will learn about how rivers are formed and how the water cycle works. If you have any questions about the theme or know any facts, click on the picture below to post on our Padlet.

This week we have had so much fun learning about the structure of tall buildings and constructing our own edible architecture. 


Week commencing 10th June

This week we have been very busy week with our enterprise week in preparation for the school summer fayre. We also learned about the DR ABC of first aid and how to do CPR and put people in the recovery position.



Week commencing 20th May

This week we went on our school trip to Manchester to the Museum of Science and Industry and the People's History Museum. We learned about electrical circuits, Victorian working conditions and why people protest.



Today we met the inspirational Suzie Imber (Link). She spoke to us about her experience on 'Astronaut- Have you got what it takes?' and her job as a Planetary Scientist. We loved hearing about her work and experience and we are all inspired to become scientists.

Week commencing 6th May 2019

This week in RE we have been learning about passover and what foods are served on the seder plate. We really enjoyed tasting matzo crackers.



Week commencing 29th April

This week we learned all about truck safety when one of the Martin Brower lorries came onto our playground. We learned about the driver's blind spots, the different dangers of large lorries and trucks and how to keep ourselves safe. 

Tuesday 2nd April

Today in art we used our observational skills to create clay sculptures of fruit.

This week we have been exploring the characters in 'The Tempest' in our drama lesson.

This week we performed our Egyptian assembly for our families and friends. We shared songs, art work, poetry, dances and drama as well as lots of interesting facts we learned during our topic.

Week beginning 21st January

This week we've been learning lots of different information about the digestive system. We have then used this to write non chronological reports in our literacy lessons and plan questions for our Scratch quiz in computing.

Week beginning 14th January

This week we have enjoyed PIPS about different pets, ballet and tap. Did you know that a dog's nose has a unique print just like our finger prints? In Computing we played quiz, quiz, trade to test each other on our computing vocabulary knowledge for our Scratch projects. We also finished our science investigation to see which liquid caused the most damage to the egg shells. 

Well done Class 10 on winning another Reading at Home Award! Keep up the fantastic work, we are very proud of you!

What a great start to the term we have had. In design and technology this week we investigated levers and linkages and discussed a range of toys and games that used them.

Week commencing 10th December


This week we have been busy writing wintery poems and creating our Christmas cards and calendars. In our computing lesson we have been creating, testing and modifying commands. Here we are testing our floss command.

This week in science we investigated how sound travels over distance. We used string telephones to help sound travel longer distances.

Week beginning 26th November


This week we have carried out a pitch investigation in science, used our knowledge of factors to complete a Kahoot quiz in maths and had two fantastic PIPS sessions all about camping and gymnastics!

This week is Road Safety Week and we have been learning about how to stay safe, distractions and hazards. 


Week beginning 12th November 

This week we have been getting involved in different activities for UK Parliament Week and Anti-Bullying Week. We also had our Year 4 Spelling Bee! We have also had 3 fantastic PIPS presentations about planes, skiing and dogs.

We have had so much fun this week! We watched the first PIPS presentations, learned about how sound is made and ended the week with a fantastic Timestables Rockstar Day. Take a look at all our pictures below.

Week commencing 15th October

This week we have been thinking about adjectives we could use to describe an alien. We then used them in expanded noun phrases. You can read some of our sentences by visiting our blog.



Week commencing 8th October


This week in music, we learnt to sing the African song, ‘Kwaheri’ and identified the rhythms used. We then practised playing the melody of the song on tuned percussion, using the pentatonic scale, FACDE.

This week we have taken part in science and Gamelan music workshops and voted in the school council elections.

We even won the Reading at Home Award this week! Well done Class 10!

We had another visit from Freddy Fit today. We played some team games and worked on our communication skills.

Friday 14th September

What a great week we've had. In maths, we've been learning about the place value of 4 digit numbers and how we can partition them in different ways by exchanging. In our spelling lesson, we worked together to match root words to their definitions before adding prefixes.
