Learning and News

Our theme this term is WW1.

In our theme lessons we will begin by finding out about the outbreak of WW1 and the role that that the assassination of Franz Ferdinand had. As well as this, we will be learning about the effects of the zeppelin air raids on Great Britain. We will be investigating Kitchener’s campaign for propaganda and how this affected soldier recruitment. Our main focus, however, will be the impact of WW1 on the local area. We will achieve this by studying a range of sources for example, the military camp at Heaton Park. Our theme ties in nicely with the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1.
