Are we damaging our world?
This half term we will learning about the environment. We will be finding out how our planet is being threatened and what we can do about it.We will also learn about what minerals are and will question whether or not they can be used sustainably.

We've had a great day celebrating Red Nose Day. Year 6 started the day by leading the assembly, followed by a cake sale and then our sponsored scooter race.
We were 'buzzing' as we took part in the Spelling Bee Competition!

Our Science for this half term is based around the Titanic. This week we investigated what makes thinks float and made our own vessels based on our own designs.

We have had a really busy week this week. An ambulance came to visit as part of our Hopwood Heroes Week. We have been investigating volume of 3D shapes using multilink cubes and we watched a DVD on Wednesday night!

This week we took part in a market place activity to learn even more about our Viking topic.

We had great fun at Heywood Sports Village taking part in gymnastics.
Y6 children led the rest of the school in a range of playground games.

We took place in a market place activity, where we worked as part of a group. First we read information based on one aspect of the Vikings, we then presented the information in a poster with a limit of 20 words. Using this poster, one of us stayed and shared the information with the other groups, whilst the rest of us rotated around the classroom finding our about other Viking areas.

This week Class 13 really loved their PE sessions at Heywood Sports Centre.

This week we had a visitor come to Y6 who explained what life was like for a soldier. He taught us more about 'morning hate', and showed us some replica WW1 artefacts.

This week we had a WW1 play visit the school. We learnt more about how the war started and how both the soldier fighting and his family back at home might have felt.

We have had a really busy week in Y6. This week we started our PIPs presentations and learnt more about karate, Chelsea football club and Florida. We have also been producing some fantastic homework.

We had a great time when our parents came into school for the learning together session. As our theme is WWI, we created a dramatic scene using paint and black card.

This week Y6 loved using the spin bikes at Heywood Sports Village.
We had a great time at Crucial Crew, finding out important safety information.

We have had a busy week this week. On Tuesday we had a scientist visit to teach us more about our science theme light and on Thursday we took part in a Gamelan drum day, where we all learnt how to play the musical instruments.

This week Y6 had their first week doing PE at Heywood Sports Village. They played basketball, football and played some games.

This week Y6 visited PGL. We tried lots of different activities and really enjoyed ourselves.
