Our geography theme this half term focusses on countries around the world and comparing their geographical features.. Add any facts that you know and anything you would like to know to our Padlet here.

Friday 22nd June

This week started with World Cup Day. Our class team was France and we played tournament matches against the other Year 3 and 4 classes. We also got to taste test some delicious French cheeses. During PE on Wednesday we had a session on orienteering and had to find and crack the codes, hidden under cones, to complete the task.

Wednesday 13th June

Today we used our ICT skills to research the history of the World Cup. We found out lots of information about when it began, who has hosted it, who has won it the most times and who is hosting it this year.

Friday 8th May

Friday 11th May

This week in drama we have been learning about the legend of King Arthur. We used tableaus (freeze frames) to capture a moment in time from the story and express different characters feelings.

Friday 4th May

This week we have been investigating circuits in science and we have been practising our techniques for standing long jump, triple jump and speed bounce in P.E.



Monday 23rd April

We had so much fun today looking at Roman artefacts. We asked questions about what they could have been used for and what it might tell us about the people of Rome.

Thursday 19th March

We had a great time today learning some new dance moves.

Friday 23rd March

This week we have been practising our art skills. We have been completing observational drawings or whole and halved peppers and we have been practising our sketching and shading skills.


Friday 16th March

This week we have been practising our reasoning and problem solving in maths. We had to list different number bonds and then use trial and improvement to work out which envelopes contained which numbers.



We also had our Year 4 Spelling Bee.



Friday 9th March


This week we have been celebrating World Book Day. We had a fantastic workshop with author and illustrator Pippa Pixley and made our own pop up characters. We have also been practising our fielding and bowling skills in P.E..

Friday 23rd February


This week we have been learning about our new history topic of coal mining. We have also been subtracting fractions in maths and in computing we have been looking at different domain names and thinking about how we can use these to help us decide if an email is genuine or not.

This week we are looking at fractions in maths. We started the week by investigating fractions and splitting different objects and amounts of things into different fractions.


25th January 2018

Today as part of our science topic we investigated gases. We investigated whether gas weighs anything and if different fizzy drinks have different amounts of gas in them.

19th January 2018

This week we have been learning to use 2 pair sentences and writing our own stories called 'The Unexpected Journey' based on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. You can read some of our writing by visiting our blog.



12th January 2018

We have had a busy week taste testing scones, writing 3ed sentences  in literacy and working hard on our STOPS activities in Maths this week. An extra well done to all of the children who read 4 or more times at home this week too.

Today we started painting our designs for our art project. We are focussing on the work of Barbara Brown who is a fabric print artist.

Today in maths we used Quiz Quiz Trade to learn our multiplication and division facts of the 6 times table.

Spelling Bee 16th November 2017



There was a buzz in Year 4 today as we held our spelling bee.  Our spellers flew through their words and moved on to the unseen spellings list! 



This week we performed our Egyptian class assembly in front of our families. We had a great time performing and our families loved it too.



This half term we are learning about different types of renewable energy and how our ears work in science.


What a fantastic start to the half term. We have come back refreshed and ready to learn.

This week in our computing lesson we used Lego WeDo to create wind turbines and programme them to turn.



Wow! What an interesting week. We had a visit from the inflatable museum. We discovered artefacts from Ancient Egypt which were over 2000 years old. Take a look at our pictures.


We loved using different percussion instruments to perform a song together this afternoon in music.
